![]() ![]() TL DR don't plug AERs into RGB headers even though they appear to fit properly. At least the fans themselves still spin properly. However I am having second thought since officially the rgb ring can be visible only from one side. RIP my AERs, having donated their LEDs to science. Switching RGB ring on 120mm AER 2 fans to the other side Switching RGB ring on 120mm AER 2 fans to the other side I really like the Aer rgb fans, and wanted to buy 9 of them for my new build in Lian Li Dynamic 011 case. With the test concluded, I plugged the fans back into the NZXT fan controller and now all the LEDs are dead and the controller doesn't pick up any signal from them. Upon loading into windows I tried using AURA sync to adjust the lighting (since I have an ASUS board) and to my surprise it actually worked in limited capacity to perform the breathing effect, but not change colors. On boot up, I heard an electric crackle which was probably not a good sign. Here are my results:īetween my two AERs, one of them has a portion of its LEDs glow red and the other in blue, the rest simply not lighting up at all. With AER RGB fans, you can sync lighting effects with your NZXT AIO (e.g 圆2 Kraken) for more unified looks thanks to the CAM software.I noticed that the RGB cable on the AER 2 that fits into the NZXT fan controller/hue2 also fits on the motherboard header, and I didn't find anything online about what happens when you plug it in there. Also, i love that i can control all my LEDs from 1 source and via software.ĭo note that when going with Corsair HD120 fans, you can't connect them to Corsair Link when you have Corsair AIO. To control more than 5 fans, or more than one effect on some of those fans, you would need another controller. It will control up to 5 fans with a single effect. The Z73 has a single-channel controller built in. Since i already have HUE+ and 2x AER RGB140 fans, i'm planning to get LED strips to illuminate my Skylake internals even further. You can daisy-chain up to 5 of them (8x540) per channel. Where you can have up 5x AER RGB fans on one channel while having up to 4x LED strips (10 LEDs per one LED strip) on second channel. But i only replaced 2 of the fans and now my nzxt fans is working properly with the rgb as well but my current fans that was supposed to be control by the Rgb fusion doesnt light up. With HUE+, you can also go with HUE+ extension kit: So i have a pc that has 5 other branded fans controlled by the RGB fusion which is a bit um bad and I just bought and installed 2 nzxt fans to replace my current fans. HUE+ has 2 channels, each channel is supporting up to 5x AER RGB fans. LED hub supports up to 6x Corsair RGB fans.Ĭontrolling the LEDs is via NZXT CAM software. When buying HD120 or AER RGB120, don't forget to buy the LED controller as well.Ĭontrolling the LEDs is manual by pressing the appropriate buttons on LED controller. While having twice as better static pressure: Performance vise, HD120 is better than AER RGB120: At current time, there are no HD140 (140mm) fans made. (two 140mm on the Radiator, and two 120mm for case fans) I assumed, wrongly, that I would be able to flip them around in one way or another so I could get proper air. Here are few pics of my Skylake build as well: Īs far as i know, Corsair only offers HD120 fans. I dove head first into going RGB nuts on newest build, and overlooked something that, quite frankly I didnt though be a problem. NZXT AER RGB fans are all about eyecandy since you have 8 individually controllable LEDs around the outer rim of the fan that you can control with NZXT HUE+. While having much better static pressure:Īs far as warranty goes, NZXT gives it's AER RGB fans 2 years of warranty while Corsair gives their ML series fans 5 years of warranty.įor eyecandy, Corsair ML series fans have 4 LEDs inside the fan hub that doesn't change it's brightness depending on the fan RPM. Mostly because the huge RPM range Corsair ML series fans have (400-2400 RPM for ML120 and 400-2000 RPM for ML140).īy performance, Corsair ML series fans have about same airflow as NZXT AER RGB fans: I have: NZXT AER RGB140, Corsair ML120 PRO red LED and Corsair ML140 PRO red LED.ĭepending on which RPM you run the fans, Corsair ML series can be quieter or louder than NZXT AER RGB fans. I can give you info about the fans that i have in my Skylake build (full specs in my sig). ![]()
